Biology vs Nursing Major

1. Biology science curriculum is more diversified and intense. Nursing science curriculum is limited, and mostly focused on the technical aspect of patient care
2. Biology student is best prepared to sit for the MCAT. Nursing students most likely will have to take an additional 1 year of sciences to catch up (post bachelor, or independent studying)
   
3. Medical School is reluctance to divert nurses because of chronic shortages in patient care
4. 90%+ Medical Students have Biology/Organic Chemistry as their Major
5. 2 years of Biology at a CC is most likely to increase and/or decrease enthusiasm for the sciences. Can always switch to nursing program (CRNA) at 4 years college. The biology AA major is compatible for Nursing curriculum
   
6. Biology major is dead-end, however, rejection of medical school, can lead to other lucrative majors, such as pharmacy, or back to Nursing!
   
7. Biology Major is the spring board to the entire medical profession. Nursing is limited to Nursing
8. Majoring in Nursing and not Biology, tend to show medical school a lack of desire and focus to actually pursue an MD. This can raise doubts about the student's enthusiasm for the MD profession

• Associate in Arts (AA) degrees - Earn a degree and guarantee transfer to a Florida four year public university.
• Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees - Enter the workforce after two years of training in a specialized field.
• Associate in Science (AS) degrees - After 2 years of specialized training, enter the workforce in a high-demand career with guaranteed job skills.
