I've been thinking more and more about which books I would put into my "Five Books and Only Five Books" list for other aspiring medical students. This would be one of them. I've narrowed the list down into subjects that I think should be covered and the books that give thorough details and specific advice for tackling each subject:
- A book that gives an overview and outline of the entire "Road to Medical School."
- A book that covers the personal statement.
- A book that covers the medical school interview.
- A book that covers MCAT test taking skills.
- And fifth book that I'm undecided on.
Since reading this book, I've altered my own MCAT prep plans to include each section (Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, and Verbal Reasoning) of this book as I finish reviewing each section of the review material. Stopping to answer each of the practice problems in the review material and then stopping to answer each of the practice problems in this book.
I can't recommend this book enough. Get it.
Most people will tell you to dedicate 3-6 months for studying for the MCAT. I'm starting (roughly) a year in advance. Your MCAT score is a huge factor when determining acceptance into Medical School or not, especially if you have a weak GPA.
